Pig pillows and zebra hiding places
Dec. 30th, 2007 11:13 amA substantial amount of snow fell on Friday, roughly 15 cm. It was the fluffy yet somewhat sticky sort that even now is still covering every tree branch and the upwind side of every tree trunk. It looks like a spray-on insulation contractor got really drunk and went crazy in the woods. Keep your eyes open and you'll see all sorts of gravitationally improbable clumps of snow somehow clinging to tree branches. Yesterday I drove up to the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest to ski at the Zilmer trail. I hadn't been there in a few years, and it's fun to ski someplace different.

Looking into the woods, we see black and white vertical stripes, like a giant bar code, or the best place in the world for zebras to hide. There might be a whole herd in there!

The pig pillows of snow on the pines.

Drooping under the load like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree
