1.What did you do in 2005 that you’d never done before?
I held a crying month-old baby, and smiled at her anyway
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Not much for resolutions.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister-in-law, to Heidi, the above-mentioned screaming infant
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No
5. What countries did you visit?
I haven’t been out of the United States in years, alas.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
More opportunity to travel
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don’t tend to remember specific dates.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Actually talking to people at OVFF, meeting some of filkers through Livejournal, and most of all meeting my German friends, who don’t even think of me as shy.
9. What was your biggest failure?
No major screw-ups this year, fortunately.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No
11. What was the best thing you bought?
iPod Nano. It’s amazing how all the small refinements make it so much better than the seemingly functionally similar generic MP3 player I had before.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Joyce, who continues to love me :)
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Personally? No one. In the larger world? Just about everyone in my government.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Well, to rent, actually, but among the more fun and variable expenses, the various cons and the week at Oshkosh.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
OVFF
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
aryana_filker‘s The Willow, for I met her through that song.

Hard to pick. Maybe Jared Diamond’s Collapse.

That even really simple finger picking on the guitar can sound really good.

I turned 33, and Joyce and I went out to eat.
