Every time someone on television show from the UK says something like, “this is a thirty-thousand pound machine,” I always think, “Wow, I didn’t think it would be so heav---oh, right.” In printed text, GBP or the £ symbol are plenty clear, and a bunch of economists talking about exchange rates never surprise me, but car shows, they always get me.

(Oh, and UK car chases are really hard to watch. Not only is everything on the other side of the road, but the signs and pavement markings are unfamiliar and the narrator is using British driving slang (“undertaking?”). I just trust that if the cops (do they call them cops there?) are chasing him, he must be doing something wrong.
