Joyce and I are back after a wonderful weekend at OVFF. This year we arrived in time for the Pegasus nominees concert and while waiting for the music to begin [livejournal.com profile] janmagic handed us her snake Spot to hold for a while. Spot was in an unusually active mood, which is good, because he’s more interesting when he’s moving, and bad, because he kept trying to slither away. All of Urban Tapestry ([livejournal.com profile] allisona, [livejournal.com profile] ohiblather, and [livejournal.com profile] jodimuse) sat behind us and at some point Allison exclaimed “that’s a real snake!” and so she got to meet (and pet, I think) Spot. I’d also say that as cheerful and giggly as Debbie seems in print, she’s even more so in person.

[livejournal.com profile] ericcoleman was there, with a vast collection of con badges around his neck from his effort to attend a dozen cons in a year. [livejournal.com profile] tigertoy showed off his new guitar. Emory lifted me off my feet with his greeting hug. [livejournal.com profile] peteralway brought his Lego dulcimer, which, as an actual playable instrument, seemed to attract a lot of attention, as well as an instrument of more conventional construction which he played some very nice music on. The Saturday concerts were great. The banquet was very good and it is always fun to watch Pegasus winners try to figure out what to say as they accept the award.

I got to meet and talk with one of my filk heroes, the source of a large fraction of the songs I sing, Bob Kanefsky. I also got to see him spring a parody of Pegasus winner The Lady on Jodi and the rest of Urban Tapestry.

So much music! I played a bit myself, singing Ingrate and playing some flute, including joining in on Road to Listonvarna during the Irish music session hosted by Dave Clement and Tom Jeffers. Mostly I enjoyed listening to everyone.

Can’t wait for next year, but in the mean time, just two weeks ‘til Windycon.

Thank you SO MUCH for that yummy chocolate cherry wine! Jodi, Allison and I shared some in our room and loved it. We also shared some with a few others.

Nice to finally meet you! :-)

I'm glad you liked the wine. When I discovered the stuff my first thought was that I had to try it and my second was that it sounded like something you might be interested in, given that of all the chocolate lovers I know, you, well, you write about it the most, certainly.

It was nice to meet you, and Allison and Jodi, too.
