Photos of the ice

I knew everyone would want photos when I wrote about the ice in the woods by the river. When I went out walking yesterday it was near sunset, and I did not have camera and tripod with me to take photos in the growing darkness. The ice is still there, though, and this morning I got some photos before work, then more after work with the full tripod-and-multiple-lenses array of gear. Set here on Flickr.

Oh, purtty! Is it still so cold in your place? Spring is almost here in Germany.

It was -10°C the morning of the day I took the photos, and +15°C two days later. It's that time of year here, when we can get pretty much any sort of weather. Last year we got about 30cm of snow on March 21. Today, sunny and +10°C. Most of the ice is melted away, with just a bit left in the more sheltered areas.

That's what April is for us. "April, April, macht was er will" is what we say. Usually in April you get every weather once: sun, rain, snow, hail.
