Chocolate!
Oct. 8th, 2004 08:26 pmI stopped by Mayfair Mall after work. I bought a book at Barnes and Noble and then wandered around a bit. I think the gift-buying season is already started, as far as the retailers are concerned. On a whim I stopped in Godiva Chocolatier. I don’t usually shop in such places, and it is an interesting experience. The woman working there was very helpful and was well-armed with delightful-sounding descriptions of the goods and lots of suggestions. Everything there is just beautiful, of course, and she carefully packed my selections in a fancy box which she tied up with string and placed in a bag with packing paper crumpled just so. I’m more used to buying generic junk in logo-encrusted packages and then trying to get a harried employee to take my money, and this was just a delightful exercise. An expensive one, to be sure, but nice.
I’ve tried one piece thus far. Yum! Wonderful! Sure, each tiny nibble is about fifty cents, but worth it. I bought a selection of fruit-containing chocolates and I’m going to have a very nice few days eating them, I can tell. I suppose they’d go well with some chocolate cherry wine.
