I find it difficult to imagine renting a $30 instrument.

The $30 ukes aren't real instruments. I've got two players, both of which I got for prices ranging from very good to "I shoulda wore a mask cuz I'm stealing it" and I still have better than a grand invested in the two of them.

You can get a good player for under $200 and you can get a collector's item old Martin 5K for somewhere north of $10,000.

Or you can plink away on your $30 one I suppose.
