Taking advantage of daylight and spare time yesterday, I went for a short run. What's it like running in 15+cm of snow? Slow going! Slowest yet hardest 2km I've run. I suppose it's like running on sand at the beach, only with a notable lack of women in bikinis. I'd have to say skiing through the snow makes a lot more sense, but I figured I'd do something different. It was far more sensible than the other New Year tradition, a swim in Lake Michigan.

I'm telling you, that was way more sensible than the traditional swim in the lake! Anyway, it was warm, -5°C. This morning it's -15°C, which is too darn cool for running. It's more skiing weather.

(The less insane winter runners can alway run around the track that encircles the indoor 400-meter ice skating oval, but I can't imagine doing that with all that lovely ice to skate on!)

OK, I confess, I am a little bit sensible to cold temperatures....

We have a word for it: Winter. I believe the corresponding German is, um, Winter. ;)

Sensitive to cold is OK, you just need proper winter clothing!
