Weekend

Saturday was the annual fannish Halloween party in Milwaukee, hosted by Lee at Lytheria. That's always a fun event, a chance to meet some of the local people who I don't see often because they don't go to the housefilks. Also, food. And flirtatious snuggling. (Joyce has a cute photo of Angel and me.) And a filk zone up on the third floor.

Filking was fun. Lots of people. We may have gotten someone who gave up music long ago back into it. She sang a few lovely songs. Well, the Ed Gein one maybe isn't exactly lovely, but it is very funny.

I got to have fun with New Material. I am not systematically learning everything there is from Lord Landless. Not at all. I am learning it all in random order. Anyway, "Courted by a Blackbird" was very well received, as was "The 'Liberty'". lisande will be either delighted or embarrassed (or maybe both) to hear that I shared "Pics of Me" (complete with photos from the con that I passed around).

Sunday we had the extra hour from the time change for sleeping, then food, then Joyce tried out the drysuit she just got. Then more food.

Good times :)

It would have been nice to get to the Halloween party, but it would require discovering the secret of bilocation -- with OVFF and Windycon, this time of year is much too busy for another weekend trip for me (and I can't practically visit Milwaukee without taking the whole weekend).

Oh, from your distance it's a weekend, for sure. I'll see you at Windy, then? I figure I can't miss Windy since it's "local" and I did miss OVFF this year. Still, one of these weekends I have to just stay home and not go anywhere :)

"This song comes with photos that I'll pass around. Dea noticed that her photographer husband is constantly taking pictures of her. Because she' cute. Then I visited and we went to all sorts of interesting places and I, too, took photos of her, because, like her husband, I recognize a beautiful subject when I see one. Then she went to the con and everyone was taking photos of her. So she wrote this song about everyone taking photos of her and when she sang it we all took photos of her. Which surprised her for some reason!"

They all thought it was hilarious.

You can't actually stop me by writing them in German, but you can slow me down—I need to practice those a lot more carefully! No one wanted to try to sing along with Der Phoenix. *pouts* I even went over the chorus first for them! Do I have to go back to Germany?
