Kenosha Wisconsin’s Bothe machine shop is now in the knitting needle business. Why not? Journal-Sentinel article. “Cathryn complained that the points weren’t sharp enough for the yarn she was using. ‘Why don’t you take them to the shop?’ her husband said, suggesting that one of the machine operators might be able to hone the points for her. ” So it started.

If they're aluminum needles, which is what I've seen in the past, it would be possible although nasty to sharpen them with a pencil sharpener. I'm thinking the old hand-cranked ones here...
