My Saturday began with [livejournal.com profile] sexybass‘s DADGAD workshop. When I first started with guitar I remember trying some of Stan Roger’s songs in DADGAD (and maybe other tunings) as they are written in the songbook, but I haven’t tried that in a long time now. Just as soon as I get the music stand and guitar unpacked.... This was also another chance to talk to Marilisa about the many instruments she plays, or, at any rate, owns.

The day was filled with musical performances. Playing Rapunzel are a highly concentrated form of musical awesomeness, as well as both of them being a delight to talk to. I finally got to hear the Greek version of Thousand Ships.

[livejournal.com profile] telynor’s concert was great. I’d last seen her at OVFF some years ago. Fun to hear The Less-Attractive Ploughboy sung. Also, at some point or another during the weekend I got to meet G.

The bits and pieces of nMC set was wonderful. Once certainly couldn’t complain about not hearing enough of the guests.

[livejournal.com profile] filkertom did a concert of mostly quite new material, with the amazing (and award-winning!) Judi frantically signing along. Living in the midwest I see Tom a lot and while he always has something new, it was really fun to hear an entirely new set.

In between the main concerts were one-shots. I’ve had a tendency to miss them at OVFF because there is no moment in the day when something isn’t on there, and so, having to therefore miss something, it tends to be the one-shots. There was more time here, so I actually heard nearly all of them. That amphibious trolley car song especially sticks in mind.

The last act was the big n’Early Music Consort concert. It was fantastic. And wonderful. And amazing.

This was followed by the banquet and the Filk Hall of Fame awards. It’s always fun when award winners are present, as Keris and Kathleen Sloan were.

Following that, there was chocolate in the con suite. [livejournal.com profile] deborah_c was coating grapes in chocolate, which sounded odd, but I’ll try anything she suggests (dangerous, I know), and it was actually very good.

Then more one-shots. And the song contest. Some wonderful entries. I managed to get some photos of people performing, but at the moment the only one I have posted is this one of Judi, Mary, Peter, and Cat, which, alas, has Judi lost behind a forest of sound equipment. Nonetheless, [livejournal.com profile] peteralway likes this photo, as evidence that he really got to do that.

The Interfilk auction followed, the usual spectacle. My money is going to travel to cons, though, so no bidding from me.

Naturally, more filking at night. Much of nMC was around for the UK-Filk theme. Tons of fun.

IIRC, the "amphibious trolley car song" was performed by Jack Carroll; I think I have the title in my notes, but can't remember anything beyond "The Steam..." right now.

Was nice to have you in the Saturday night filk circle I was part of, but I was wishing you'd performed more. I think we heard all of two songs from you, and that's not enough. :-)

I was so enjoying all the wonderful music that it was quite a while before I realized that I hadn't sung anything, and it ended up being my quietest night of the con.
