weather flame
Mar. 8th, 2006 02:12 pmAndrew W. Galvin died Monday at age 85. He's the person who came up with the idea for the glass "flame" atop the downtown Milwaukee building formerly owned by the Wisconsin Gas Company. The flame is internally lighted, red, blue, or yellow, to indicate the forecast weather. Part of the charm of this local landmark is that no one can remember the color code, other than "I'm pretty sure that whatever blue means, it isn't cold, even though you'd think it would mean cold."
