Clearance 12 feet 4 inches

If you want to see what happens when a truck considerably taller than 12 feet 4 inches encounters a 12 foot 4 inch overpass at some fair speed, I have two photos up on Flickr. This happened very near where I live. It happens from time to time. It’s sort of a form of entertainment for those of us who live here.

:) Oops. Near where I live issuch an overpass, too. Some time ago they were building something new there so they had to install a scaffold which made the space under it even smaller. Thy installed a warning sign, too, but in this time, three or four trucks rushed right under it. For me it was sometimes very annoying, for that overpass is on my way to work and such accidents always happened when I was already late.

They got this cleared out by this morning, leaving just a bit of foam insulation from the truck and a few marks on the paint on the bridge. They had another truck come to take the cargo, some tow trucks, and lots of people who were still working at 11 at night, four hours after I took the photos.

At least this spot doesn't block traffic, because there is another overpass with much more clearance (which this guy should have used) a very short distance away.
