more WindyCon

There was a Saturday evening false fire alarm at WindyCon. The good news is, the alarm system works. Saturday evening is also when the costumes came out. There was a very impressive Star Wars storm trooper, a number of very elaborate costumes of a more historical nature, and lots of women spilling out of all sort of outfits.
Speaking of visually appealing female forms, the art show was quite large, and I quite enjoyed looking around, though I didn’t buy anything. I also escaped with my wallet intact from the large dealer’s room.
While sitting on a couch near the restaurant Saturday evening, reading and watching the people go by, I heard voices from behind me and discovered that the curved wall behind me would reflect sound from a certain point in the restaurant. I didn’t try talking back...
almeda was able to spend evenings at the con though she was working during the days. I was happy to let her use my guitar and happy to hear her join in singing on some of my stuff, especially the Ivanova Blasphemy song, which I think sounded quite good as a group effort, especially considering that it’s not like we had rehearsed it or anything.
My room was on a party floor, but I didn’t hear any noise, probably because partiers and filkers keep compatible hours. The airplane noise from nearby O’Hare was fairly well muffed, too.
