The Roof thing

I've said before that one of the more striking things I noticed in Germany was all the tile and slate roofs, even on seemingly humble structures. In contrast, American practice results in this sort of thing even on pricey riverside real estate. I do, however, have photographic proof that even in Germany the sort of cheap asphalt roofing we use here all the time on nice homes is sometimes used:

If you could send a message back

On #filkhaven last night little_cinnamon observed that there are an "infeasible number of photos of Beige with women asleep on his shoulder," referring to this photo of two tired tourists. I said I wish I could send a message to my past self. Something like, "Don't worry. You may not be getting hugs now, but, in the future, women from around the world will sleep on your shoulders, sometimes two at a time."
