Kinda like German, only not

On Sunday at the Milwaukee Public Market the guy who sings, plays guitar, plays a tambourine with his foot, and plays harmonica was providing music. Unfortunately, besides being way too loud, he plays much louder than he sings, totally drowning himself out. Listening to him sing in my native English was actually, in a way, rather like listening to German. Every now and then, I'd understand a word, but not nearly enough to have any idea what the song was about. In German, this happens because I hardly know any words at all. With him, it's more his fault.
