Yesterday I spent some time in the city before picking Joyce up from the airport. In Broadway Paper I found some comical products from Knock Knock, including the “mood alert” pad. I put one up for today’s mood on Flickr. I’m thinking of making a habit of posting these. I found another pad I’m keeping a secret for now in order to surprise one of my friends with it.

Today I visited some used book stores. Renaissance Books is organized in a manner that promotes browsing. That’s a euphemism for disorganized. While browsing, I found one of those used book store gems, one of those things I wasn’t looking for and wouldn’t have imagined existed, The Skiers’ Song Book, from 1950. Yes, 75 goofy ski songs from the semi-distant past! Fellow filkers, beware! It includes some from Europe, too, in various languages. Yesterday, at the branch of the store located in the airport (yes, a used book store in the airport!) I found a 1965 report from Argonne National Lab with lots of information from the early work on the Experimental Breeder Reactor II. Very geeky.
