My birthday was Saturday and I certainly had a nice weekend. I bought myself an fancy new cell phone, an LG VX6100, which is way smaller and way cooler than my old phone was. You look at these things and think, well, the battery is back there, there’s a keypad, two screens, a camera, and just where exactly is the dual-band digital spread spectrum (plus analog FM) radio transceiver and computer and all that working stuff? It must be really tiny. My first phone had a battery almost as big as this whole phone. Anyway, if you want to send me a text message, I’ve got that turned on in my Livejournal user info page. It does Internet, too, and I’m trying out WxServer for fancy color weather radar and satellite photos the phone.
There was a Milwaukee housefilk in Barisha’s basement. Some of the Chicago gang came up, including
jerusha,
anach and
alymid (I think that’s the right LJ username). Most of the Milwaukee people were there, too. Barisha and Carol sang that “Coming ‘Round the Mountain“ variant that I haven’t heard in years. Betsey led a bunch of Echo’s Children, which is always fun. Deirdre sprang Flavors of the Quark on Angel, who missed hearing it at Capricon. I tried out my marginal fingerpicking on Ever The Winds.
On Sunday Joyce and I went to our local Godiva chocolate shop to get some good chocolate and then to Outback Steakhouse for somedead cow steak. She also gave be a book of music for guitar and flute duet.
