Not being able to understand songs, train announcements, and least of all jokes is normal in a foreign language. Heck, half the time I don't understand songs and announcements in my own language, and half the people I know do not catch it when I make a joke. (that's not my fault by the way. They just don't have a sense of humour *harharhar*).
