The traditional Milwaukee party at Lytheria was fun as always. Always fun to see the people I only see at the parties there. Lee's collection of the funniest TV commercials of the year was quite funny. As for filk, [livejournal.com profile] peteralway's Helium Composer song "[livejournal.com profile] maebdh7's New Year's Song" was funny. I also succeeded in playing "Courted by a Blackbird" from memory, making it the second song ever that I've memorized.

I will join in with [livejournal.com profile] hsifyppah's Retroactive New Year's Resolutions! The kind that are easy to keep!

Things I will certainly have no problem doing last year:

  1. Don't die in some vehicular crash, whether human powered or jet powered
  2. Go to Germany
  3. Be able to figure out, even while jet-lagged on the first day in Germany, whether I'm an "H" or a "D" for the purpose of selecting the proper public toilet
  4. Touch a giraffe
  5. Distribute hugs far and wide
  6. Learn lots of new songs
  7. Limit the drug abuse to getting drunk once. Preferably in a foreign country.

And now for the harder kind, for 2008:

  1. Continue not dying
  2. Learn some more German!
  3. Sort through and post to Flickr the photos from Germany prior to going to Germany again
  4. More camping!
  5. Work on fancier guitar fingerpicking
  6. Do some songwriting
  7. Swim more

Happy new year, everyone!

Did you hug the giraffe?

No, but I scritched it on the head. They aren't really the huggable sort.

I love the retroactive resolutions. I should start doing those instead of failing miserably at the proactive ones :-)

The giraffe is lovely! Such a blue tongue *g* I don't think I ever touched a giraffe (but I saw some in their natural habitat which was certainly an experience, too).

Very cool! I've only seen them in unnatural habitats like Wisconsin, or The Netherlands. (Though considering where I'm starting from, the trip to Emmen was a non-trivial journey, too.)
