Say what you will about Milwaukee, that it's not as cool as Chicago, that a tiny village in Germany would have a fancier public transit system, that the weather may be interesting but interesting weather is not always a good thing, but there are some nice things about the place. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel might not be the finest thing in journalism, but it brought joy to my morning to find that not only had my paper not been stolen, but the top story on page one was this:

Top Story: Wurst

I'd link to the actual story on their web site except that it cannot be found there at the moment. Such is the Journal Sentinel's web site. Apparently, in 1432, Weimar issued some regulations for Thuringian rostbratwurst. This is exciting news for people fascinated by bratwurst such as Germans and Milwaukeeans. Indeed, it seems to be the most exciting thing happening in the world today as far as our local paper is concerened. It is joy, I tell you.

Baseball offseason wheeling and dealing. So called because it used to be the discussions around a hot stove, waiting for spring to return and restore the natural order of things (baseball happening, warm days and nights...)

It happens that the annual formal Winter Meetings began today, in Nashville, and baseball news is much up front here (what with both our teams doing high-profile horse trading), despite that I search it out to begin with.

In F1 the 'silly season' of contract renegotiation actually seems to stretch all year long.
