On my way back home via bicycle, I saw a man on a motorcycle demonstrate a lack of concern for his own safety. Aside from the bike being a formerly-plastic-covered sportbike of some kind, now missing most of the plastic panels and held together, in part, with bungee cords, he was also lacking not just helmet, gloves, any sort of sturdy clothing on top or bottom, but also shoes of any kind. He made a quick right turn, got the rear wheel caught in a pothole and had a somewhat exciting moment, then recovered and, rather than reacting by taking it easy, gunned it and wheelied on down the road a bit. That’s pretty much the opposite of what they taught us in motorcycle safety class.

No shoes AT ALL. Not even flip-flops. He was...the exact, perfect opposite of the typical BMW rider.

Natural stupidity is certainly not in short supply, but from the description it's a fair bet that you were seeing chemically-enhanced stupidity.

Gah, I hate these guys! A. had a motorbike for years, but he never ever drove like that (I guess he didn't dare to because he feared his wife's wrath...)

I don't care if someone as stupid gets hurt or dies because of his stupidity- but they should please think about the people they leave behind and who might actually miss them. And if they don't leave anyone behind they should think about the other people (for example the poor driver of the car they chose to crash into or - if they manage to kill themselves somewhere lonly - the poor guy who finds them...
