We’ve had a few warm, sunny days, but not enough to melt all the snow we got on Friday night and Saturday. I went to Lapham peak for two laps around the lighted trail. The snow is a bit icy, which makes for fast but hard to control decents, which, you’ll have to agree, is an exciting combination. The weather is forecast to cool off, and we might get some more snow, but we’ll see. We got a lot of the basically unpleasant kind of winter weather here, with enough icy stuff to make driving to work a pain but not enough to ski on, or bitter cold but no snow to ski on (or snowmobile, for those who prefer power), but precious few days with enough snow for winter sports. Mostly it’s just a little snow, then it melts, then it gets really cold, then it warms up again and a bit of icy stuff falls, and the cycle repeats. Any Canadians out there, in the land we in the USA mostly think of as the place cold fronts come from? Do you get more reliable winter-sports conditions?

Also, did you know that snowballs grow on trees?
