a few more OVFF thoughts
Nov. 4th, 2004 08:33 pmA few more OVFF thoughts:
Scott Snyder’s concert was great. I’m not a gamer, but I know gamers, and the D&D songs, not to mention that “I used to have a life back then, but I play magic now” song, are hilarious.
I really like Andy Eigel’s Uplift, and he did some other great stuff, too. Like the escaped cow one.
I walked into the main room one night just as Rand and Adam were finishing “Math,” and was realized immediately that I wished I had heard the whole thing. On Sunday, after packing up and while getting ready to leave for the long trip back to Milwaukee (470 miles / 750 km, about 10 hours including a stop to eat), we wandered past the room where the children’s concert was being held and, again, heard the very end of the song. Argh!
I caught the end of the “songwriting as a team” panel with Rand and Adam. That was interesting, as they discussed the issue of coming together each with four minutes worth of ideas and having to learn to not put all eight minutes into the final product. It was also there where I identified Kanefsky so that I was able to have a very nice chat with him later. (It is hard to meet people when you have no idea what they look like.)
On the drive from Milwaukee to Ohio Joyce and I stopped for fuel and for food at an Arby’s. Inside, we found Milwaukee’s Art Warneke and Chicagoan
janmagic, who were traveling to OVFF together. It’s not surprising at all that we were all headed in that direction at that time, but there are a lot of restaurants between here and there.
