I got my skates sharpened and they feel like different skates. Mostly this is good, but sometimes what was intended to be a graceful sliding maneuver comes out as an uncontrolled swerve. I timed five laps around the 400 meter oval, roughly 2 km, at 6:11, for 19.4 km/hr. For comparison, the men’s record time for 5 km is just slightly longer.
