The grand opening of the Milwaukee Public Market was quite grand. The outdoor farmers’ market there has been open weekends since mid summer, and now the building has been completed and the indoor shops are open. On Saturday the place was packed.
The Saturday night filk at Barisha’s was fun, as usual. It was a good night for minimally-rehearsed new material. I’d found out about
aryana_filker‘s song The Willow from
allisona’s LJ just a day before, but since I’m already familiar with the tune from all the parodies of it I sing I was able to introduce it to the Milwaukee group. They liked it a lot. They were probably glad I didn’t use Kanef’s crapping geese lyrics, or my every-shipwreck-song-ever-all-rolled-into-one-horrible-mass version.
anach wasn’t present to provide death, death, and more death, but Barisha said that I partly filled that gap with Warren Zevon’s Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner. Joe really liked that.
