I also took a perfectly functional computer and upgraded the operating system, going from RedHat 8.0 to Fedora Core 2. It is working again, as you can see, and it was acutally reasonably easy. That will get an entry, eventually. I have cable broadband internet, which I have two entries about. I certainly would not have downloaded 2.2 gigabytes of Fedora over the old modem. With BitTorrent and cable internet it only took a few hours.
The LinWiz Linux configuration Wizard web site is very handy for generating an iptables setup to secure a Linux box's network connection.
