Ice pellets!?

I looked at the weather forecast and for Wednesday it says that the best current guess at what will be falling out of the sky is “Ice Pellets.” I saw that and thought that where my Mother lives, in southern Arizona, “Ice Pellets” would be made by a machine, and you might pick up a bag of them at the store if you were going camping or something and wanted to pack some food in an ice chest. Here, “Ice Pellets” fall right out of the sky for us. How convenient!

Hmmm...vague echoes of the Old Testament's "manna". I wonder if there were people back then complaining about having to clear it out of their way before getting going on their morning trek.

Pennies from heaven would be a major menace. Isn't the terminal velocity of a penny, well, terminal?

The Mythbuster guys did this one. I think they concluded that terminal velocity for a penny is decidedly non-lethal. Not that you'd want to be out in a rain of them or anything, but they are not going to crater the sidewalks.
