Stuff acquisition

Well, I have some pumpkin wine. It's, um... Well, I guess pumpkins grow in Wisconsin, and around here a certain amount of wine making is done on the basis of selecting something that grows here first, then trying to make some sort of wine out of it. Grapes do, in fact, grow around here, so it's not all goofy stuff, but I have some sort of soft spot for weird local products. It's somewhat cloudy yellow in appearance, and while the scent is faint, it definitely smells like something. Unfortunately, not something good. The flavor is pretty generic. Imagine mead that's turned cloudy, smells funny, and doesn't taste quite normal. Still, pumpkin! Who knew you could make wine out of that?

I also went to a shopping mall, in search of books. I was not looking for Steven Pinker's The Stuff Of Thought, but it looked too interesting to pass up. I've got language on the brain right now. I also found, in the discount section, something with pretty Hubble Space Telescope pictures. I also bought another German study book, with a bit more of a methodical explanation approach than the last, which may suit me.

I leave you with a photograph showing a traditional Halloween at the shopping mall:

Wow, you've really sold this pumpkin wine thing to me. :)

Oh my. That really looks absolutely halloweenish! *lol*

Some of the best homemade wine I can remember having was tomato wine... so pumpkin isn't out the realm of possibility. I just figure it out to be better than what you had, though.

Tomato! That sounds interesting. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if pumpkin can be done better than this stuff. It's not bad but it certainly isn't particularly good.

Huh? Halloween? It all looks so christmassy! Horror! I refuse to make/buy/hang up any christmas decoration before it is December. No way.
I mus admit that I already bought gingerbread, because I like it so much. But that's all. :)

When I was little, my parents always said that the stores seemed to put the Christmas displays up earlier every year. She was right! Now they don't even wait until after Halloween!

I thnk that is annoying. Xmas should stay Xmas and Halloween should stay Halloween.
