Season of Darkness

We’re now in the season in which it is completely dark out at the time I have to wake up to get to work on time. During the summer the sun rises plenty early and the light seems to get my brain used to the idea of morning. I’ll wake up early, look at the clock and see I have plenty of sleeping time left, sleep a bit longer, and then wake up right about the time my alarm is set for. Now, in the darkness, I generally get blasted into a stunned version of awake out of some deep stage of sleep by the alarm. It’s not so pleasant. It used to be I’d get a week or two of morning sunlight when we set the clocks back, but now that the date for that has been moved later, I think it will be too late, and and it will still be dark.

You need a dawn simulator. That's what I use, and it has made a HUGE difference in my SAD. I use this one: http://www.lighttherapyproducts.com/sunrizr.aspx

There are cheaper models, if all you need is a slow wake up and you don't have the SAD issue like I do.

I've heard of dawn simulators. Thanks for the link, I'd never actually seen one for sale.

Bleah indeed. I also prefer the days when I can get up to sunlight and even out into it on the way to work. (Of course, for me that means waking at 7PM and out at 8:00...) Still, there's always the other end of the day; there's nothing quite like watching the sun rise and move from purple to golden of a morning.

I always have light by the time I'm actually out on the way to work. Very soon the trip back home from work will be in darkness.

My electrionic alarm clock did not go off,

However my Feline Alarm Clock still made sure I was up to feed her by 6:45

And I can even tell you what your feline alarm clock thought at that time:

"It's so hard to get good servants..." ;)

Yep, same problem here! Both with the dark and the moved date...

*sighs* I hate summer time!
