Islands In the Mondegreen

Rob Balder has written and recorded a great song, "Cylons on the Screen," which is set to the tune of "Islands In the Stream" by the Bee Gees and a hit for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Islands was a rather popular song at one time in my life, and was played a great deal at the time. I actually didn't even know the title until just recently. The title gives at least a bit of the lyrics away, but although I'd heard the song many, many times, I'd never deciphered any of it besides "that is what we are." No Google back in the day, after all, to look these things up. It's just been a total Mondegreen of a song for me for much of my life. I think you could make up anything and convince me you had the original words. This, for example, I'm pretty sure isn't the original chorus because I just made it up, but I couldn't tell for certain that Kenny and Dolly weren't singing this just by listening:

Airbus Industrie
That is what we are
Making giant planes
Sold around the world
Parts from all around joined up in Toulouse
And we do battle with Boeing, uh-huh

In contrast to Kenny and Dolly, Rob Balder and Rachel Thurston are very easy to understand.

*cackle* Awesome, and thanks for the plug. :)

I wasn't positive all of our lyrics would be perfectly clear. I was a bit worried about "kinda makes the Borg look more like Spaceballs" coming through, and I did not include lyrics in the liner notes.

Plenty clear. Even the furry jargon in "Paws To Yourself" was plenty clear enough to look up in the Wikipedia. (Ah, Wikipedia, the source for weird information.)
