From a distance, it's pretty. From up close, the approaches are of course as ugly as can be. It's an Interstate Highway, with no pedestrian access, so while the view from the bridge would probably be great, you can hardly see over the edges and you have to go 50 miles per hour, so you can't actually see anything. Just in the last few years they finally built a road for the decades old bridge to connect to. The original plan was to run a giant highway right by the lake shore, on the theory that since the shoreline is beautiful and would naturally tend to attract people, we ought to build a highway there and cut off all access. They didn't do that, fortunately, but they did build the big bridge, which led to pretty much nowhere for decades.
